THE ROLE
Our client is experiencing incredible growth and has an opportunity for a successful candidate to work closely with the executive team, and oversee and help build the financial accounting team. They are seeking a Finance Manager looking to advance their career. In this role, the successful candidate will take care of and oversee all financial aspects of the company and communities we provide management services for. You will report to the President, and work closely with the executive team. This role also has potential for further career advancement. This is a full-time position. This position can work from home if needed due to COVID 19, however the position is an in-office position. They have a well set up office space with a maximum of 5 people at any one time and have a very well defined and stringent COVID-19 protocol.
As the Finance Manager, you will be responsible for:
· Managing all aspects of the Finance and Accounting functions of the organization to include accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, etc. for all business entities and clients we serve
· Providing leadership with expert advice and tactics as they relate to budgetary matters, cost benefit analysis, forecasting needs, and cash flow management
· Build, lead, supervise, mentor, and evaluate the work of Finance team, including ensuring cross training of employees as appropriate
· Prepare (or review) and submit monthly and annual financial reports and budgets by required dates
· Review cash flow to requirements to meet the organization’s needs
· Oversees all company and client audits
· Attend client board meetings, either virtually or in person, from time to time, which may be during the day, or in the evening
· Consults with external parties (CRA, Industry Auditors, tax advisors, etc.) to address issues and ensure Condominium Act requirements adhered too.
· Assisting in updating and implementing accounting procedures and policies for the company and enforcing policies
· Lead by example and inspire others
Requirements
YOUR QUALIFICATIONS
· CPA designation (CA, CMA or CGA), with an active membership in good standing required, or in progress
· Solid experience with and good knowledge of Canadian Accounting Standards for not-for-profit organizations
· Hands on experience dealing with Accounts Payable, Account Receivable, and basic accounting
· Exposure to the Condominium Act, and Yardi Voyager would be considered a strong asset
· Demonstrated track record of proven financial acumen and leadership that demonstrates ability to work with senior leadership to gain deep insight into how to improve the organization’s operational and financial performance
· Proven project management and organizational skills to execute time sensitive deliverables and effectively manage several projects simultaneously
· Track record of managing two or more people, preferably directly
· Experience with condominium or residential management industry would be considered an asset
· A hungry, enthusiastic, growth orientated manager with a passion for customer service and accounting
· Ability to quickly understand business processes, their risk implications and analyze complex situations to reach appropriate conclusions
· Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills: This role will be client facing, however in a limited capacity during the pandemic, so an emphasis on strong and well-crafted written communication would be considered a strong asset.
· Open to ideas, willing to ask for help, flexible, thinks outside the box, proactive and able to admit when a mistake is made, and learn from the experience
· Attention to detail and organized
· A passion for sharing knowledge, a desire to help shape and develop an accounting team
