Real Property Division (RPD) is a division within the Ministry of Citizens’ Services. RPD provides everything needed to design, set up and manage a workplace for government ministries and broader public sector clients.RPD manages, on behalf of the Province, a diverse real estate portfolio of lease and owned properties that extend through the province.

As Project Accountant, you provide a wide range of recovery budget and revenue accounting services for all recurring and project charges related to the occupancy by both Mandated and Non-Mandated customers of all space owned, leased or maintained by the Provincial Government through RPD. You process appropriated spaces and non-appropriated charges, audit financial information to ensure adequate recoveries on projects, assist in the preparation of segment and customer revenue budgets, maintain an accounts receivable ledger, and track accounts. You are also responsible for the reconciliation of budgeted to actual costs for the Non-Mandated Customers according to each of their agreements.

Highly analytical and with a range and depth of revenue, accounts receivable and budgeting experience, you provide needed financial support to the Division and perform the day-today accounting functions necessary to ensure the accurate and timely processing of transactions. Your strong service orientation and proactive, creative approach to identifying opportunities for improvement and problem resolution ensure your success in this role.

Job Requirements:
In order to be considered for this position, your application must clearly demonstrate how you meet the education and experience as outlined below:

Education/Experience

  • Completion of first level of CPA program or equivalent plus 2 years related experience*; OR
  • 1 year diploma/certificate in recognized financial management /accounting program plus at least 2 years related experience*; OR
  • Completion of Level 1 GFMC plus 2 years related experience*.
  • An equivalent combination of experience, education and/or training may be considered.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience with budget planning and reporting.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience analyzing financial data for variances and trends.
  • Minimum of 2 years experience using MS Excel / Word at the intermediate level.

*Related experience includes budget, revenue and accounts receivable

Preference May Be Given To Applicants With:

  • Experience with an integrated accounting system such as the government Corporate Financial System (CAS).
  • Experience in a facility management system such as IBM TRIRIGA Facility Management Software.
  • Experience using Access Database or Oracle-based financial systems.
