Our Forestry Technicians know the lay of the land. They take charge of the layout and development activities for the Woodlands team and take ownership and pride in the working relationships they build along the way. We’re looking for an experienced Forestry Technician for our Southern Interior Woodlands Division. The Southern Interior Woodlands Team manages Tolko’s tenure and fiber supply in the Southern Interior of British Columbia, covering an area of 953,447 hectares. We are dedicated to sustaining these areas to the benefit of all who live and work there.

Our ideal candidate has the following qualifications:

  • A graduate of forestry from a recognized college or university or have the equivalent practical work experience and training.
  • Strong communication, interpersonal, organizational, and team collaboration skills.
  • A valid driver’s license.
  • A sound understanding of forest policy, guidelines, and regulations.
  • An unwavering commitment to safety.
  • Previous industry experience.
  • Registered (or eligible to register) for the ABCFP is preferred.

In this role you will:

  • forest development activities,
  • road/cut block layout,
  • timber cruising and drafting of associated plans.
  • This position generally encompasses both field and office duties.
  • Work within and between various teams and build strong relationships with the people you work with.
  • Complete all duties in a safe, timely and cost effective and professional manner.

This is a unionized position, within the United Steelworkers Local 1—423. Compensation is governed by the Southern Interior Master Agreement. This position currently pays $35.60- $39.28/hour, depending on experience, education and skill level.
