Located in Toronto, the Art Gallery of Ontario (“the AGO”) is one of the largest art museums in North America, with a collection of close to 100,000 works. Through the collection as well as collaborations with leading museums around the world, the AGO presents wide-ranging exhibitions and programs to approximately 1 million visitors annually.
We are currently seeking a temporary part-time Gallery School Technician to join our Education & Programming team. Under the direction of the Director, Strategic Projects & Operations, E&P, the incumbent will prepare studio spaces for classes and workshops including the setup of furniture, tools, materials and other supplies. He/She/They supports the Chief Technician in monitoring inventory, maintaining studio, workshop and storage facilities and supports instructional staff through technical assistance for students.

The ideal candidate will have the following qualifications, skills, and experience:
- Working knowledge of artist’s materials and methods in a studio environment (ex painting, printmaking, sculpture)
- Familiarity with computer programs (Word, Excel, Mail)
- Knowledge and experience working with media equipment such as Mac, digital cameras, iPads, projectors, media connections, lighting etc.
- Knowledge of carpentry techniques and materials.
- Working knowledge of handling and installing works of art.
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Good interpersonal skills
- Able to work under pressure and to tight deadlines
- WHMIS certification preferred
- Experience operating a variety of hand and power tools for basic repair of furniture and/or equipment.
