Job description: Our client is a well-established organization providing logistics, warehouse, and transportation services across North America. Due to succession planning, they are looking for an experienced and highly motivated General Manager who will be responsible for all the warehousing, productivity, inventory control, and transportation operations.
The GM will be proficient in Dock to Stock, Stock to Dock, and Last Mile Delivering Processes with previous E-Commerce experience. The new hire will lead the deep evaluation of our client’s customers’ business encompassing business patterns, asset requirements, optimal flows, and processes. The GM brings a total supply chain view to developing innovative and creative solutions and is experienced in meeting with prospects and existing customers.
Responsibilities: * Strategic Leadership
- Develop and execute the business plan for the distribution center aligning with the company’s overall goals
- Identify opportunities for growth, expansion, and operational improvements, and implement effective strategies to achieve them
- Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies relevant to the operations
- Operation Management
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the warehouse including receiving storage, order fulfillment, inventory management, and shipping
- Ensure optimal utilization of warehouse space, equipment, and labor resources to maximize efficiency and productivity
- Monitor and analyze key performance indicators (KPI’s) against standards and budgets and implement corrective actions as needed
- Client Relationship Management
- Serve as the primary point of contact for key clients
- Foster strong relationships with clients addressing any concerns or issues promptly and efficiently
- Work with the business development director to identify opportunities for new business as well as upselling or cross-selling services to existing clients and participate in key client contract negotiations
- Team Leadership and Development
- Lead, mentored, and motivated staff
- Set performance objectives for staff and conduct regular coaching, feedback and evaluations
- Foster a positive work culture, promoting teamwork, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Identify training needs and provide appropriate training programs for the warehouse team
- Financial Management and Reporting
- Develop and manage the annual budget ensuring financial targets are met or exceeded
- Monitor expenses, control costs and identify opportunities for cost optimization without compromising service quality
- Analyse financial results and implement strategies to improve profitability
Qualifications:
- Proven experience (7+ years) in a management role in e-commerce 3PL warehouse operations or similar roles. Ideally, you are an experienced General Manager or VP.
- Bachelor’s degree in supply chain management, logistics, business administration, or related field.
- Consumer packaged goods, retail, and food distribution backgrounds would be considered an asset.
- Strong business network and demonstrated track record of winning new business.
- Highly proficient in using Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) and a deep understanding of other relevant software tools.
- Strong financial acumen and experience managing budgets.
- Adaptable and able to perform under pressure in a demanding and fast-paced team environment.
- Driven to provide exceptional customer service.
- Knowledge of common carriers and dedicated transportation networks.
- Knowledge of relevant regulations and safety standards of the logistics and transportation industry.
- Experience working effectively in a unionized environment.
- Knowledge of common carriers and dedicated transportation networks.
- SCMP, CITT, and CIFFA Certifications as assets.
- Management skills including the ability to effectively consult, gain support for initiatives, negotiate, resolve conflict, and influence change.
- Willingness to seek input from all levels and functions within the organization.
