Job title: General Accountant

Job description: Reporting directly to the Accounting Manager, the successful candidate will support the accuracy and integrity of financial statement data while working closely with team members and operations staff. The incumbent verifies, accrues and analyzes detailed accounting information used to prepare financial statements as well as provides data analysis relating to business and operational requirements; project work is identified and undertaken focusing on, but not limited to, improvements to systems and process efficiencies. This is a permanent opportunity with exponential growth for individuals who are early in their financial career and looking for long-term growth with a stable and large company.

This expectation will be in-office for the duration of training, then will move to a hybrid work model (2 days from home). Key Accountabilities:

– Performs standard journal entries for month end, quarter end and year end

– Prepares monthly key performance indicator metrics and analyzes data.

– Reviews account reconciliations and analysis.

– Collaborates with operations to identify opportunities for process and system improvements.

– Prepares monthly HST filings

– Prepares quarterly Stats Canada filings and reports.

– Provides financial analysis support to operations and construction teams

– Liaises with external auditors as required, throughout the year.

– Prepares year-end files for annual year-end financial audit and responds to audit inquiries, in support of and with assistance to the Divisional Controller, ensuring efficiency in the process.

– Other reasonable duties as assigned, including those given by the Accounting Manager.

– Experience of at least three years of relevant accounting work, preferably in an industrial setting

– 3 year college diploma or university degree in Accounting or related field;

– Has obtained, or is actively working towards, a professional accounting designation;

– Advanced MS Excel skills – including pivots, macros and advanced formulas for analysis;

– Experience with Oracle Cloud is an asset;

– Highly analytical

– Excellent communication skills
