Job description: Robert Half is partnered our client, a thriving retailer in their search for a General Accountant with bookkeeping experience for their team. This role is on-site due to the nature of the business, and conveniently located on a major subway line. If you have an interest in premium fashion, this could be a great role for you!

The General Accountant will play a crucial role in managing financial transactions, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring compliance with accounting principles and regulations. This position offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the growth and success of our organization.

Key Responsibilities:

– Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records by recording daily transactions.

– Reconcile bank statements and monitor cash flow to ensure liquidity.

– Manage accounts payable and maintain strong vendor relationships.

– Assist with preparing monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

– Generate financial reports and provide insights on the company’s financial performance.

– Prepare and file sales tax and income tax returns in accordance with relevant laws and regulations.

– Stay updated on tax law changes and ensure the company’s tax obligations are met.

– Monitor inventory levels and perform regular reconciliations.

– Accurately process payroll and ensure compliance with labor laws.

– Maintain employee payroll records and handle payroll tax matters.

– Assist with other ad hoc administrative tasks as required.

Your Qualifications:

– Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

– Proven experience as a General Accountant or similar role, preferably in a retail environment.

– Proficiency in QuickBooks and Microsoft Excel.

– Strong knowledge of accounting principles and regulations.

– Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

– Strong organizational and time-management skills.

– Effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate with team members.

– This position requires on-site work near the Bloor Yonge Subway Station.
