Position Title – General IES Field Officer

Reporting to: Integrated Emergency Services Director

Location: Sioux Lookout or Thunder Bay, ON

Position Type: Contract/Term

POSITION SUMMARY

The Independent First Nations Alliance is looking to hire a general Integrated Emergency Services (IES) Field Officer. Reporting to the IES Director, the duties will include a variety of support based on the needs of the IFNA communities, and the IES Department.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Respond to emergencies when an Emergency Operations Center is activated
• Cover for deployed IFNA Emergency Operations staff, which may include administrative and/or logistics related duties.
• Represent the IFNA Communities on regional, provincial and federal committees as it relates to Emergency Management goals and objectives when requested. Present updates during de/briefings and attend other committee meetings as needed.
• May be assigned within IES to assist anywhere.
• Writing, detailed reporting.
• Other duties as directed by the IES Director

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Fluent in English; ability to speak Ojibway or other local languages would be an asset
• Able to communicate effectively
• Able to adapt to changing situations and circumstances
• Experience in emergency response
• Experience travelling to remote communities
• Experience with Microsoft Office, ability to type detailed field operations reports

Assets:

• First Response Certificate

Requirements:

• First Aid Training
• G Driver’s License
• Clear Driver’s Abstract
• Provide a clear criminal records check, with vulnerable sector search
• Able to travel on short notice for deployment on weekends/holidays to different communities
• Willing to stay overnight in remote communities as required

Start Date: ASAP/Open until filled
