Job title: Health Care Aide

Job description: Reporting to the Clinical Manager or delegate, the Health Care Aide (HCA) will work under the direction of regulated health professionals, mainly RN and RPN staff, however, could also receive direction from other regulated health professionals. HCAs will provide personal care, including but not limited to bathing, feeding, dressing, toileting, transferring, ambulating in accordance with the developed plan of care to patients whose needs are more residential and supportive in nature and could be met on an ongoing basis in Long Term care or other community setting.

Qualifications

1. Personal Support Worker or Healthcare Aide Certificate from an accredited institution, or equivalent.
2. Recent, within the last 3 years, clinical experience working as personal support worker, or equivalent.
3. Demonstrated proficiency in dressing, bathing, feeding and toileting those with physical and cognitive impairments, including contractures.
4. Demonstrated effective communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, teamwork skills
5. Demonstrated initiative and judgment appropriate for the position.
6. Ability to accept assigned or delegated functions.
7. Ability to set priorities and organize work accordingly.
8. Ability to deal with various hospital departments effectively and collaboratively.
9. Ability to lift using appropriate lifting techniques and bend, push and pull using good body mechanics working within the HHS policy
10. Computer familiarity and computer skills as required.
