The Nursing Attendant provides resident care services as an unregulated worker, under the direct supervision of the RN or LPN. As a member of our nursing team, you will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our residents and utilize your knowledge, skills and abilities to competently provide direct care to our residents. Resident care includes assisting with activities of daily living and other nursing related activities. Myron Thompson Health Centre is in a rural community in west central Alberta. We work in a multidisciplinary team to provide nursing care in a blended acute/ER and continuing care environment. The Myron Thompson Health Centre is an intimate team environment providing care with 14 acute care beds, 5 long-term care beds, 4 restorative care beds and a five stretcher emergency department. We serve the Town of Sundre Alberta http://www.sundre.com/ , https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hsqd4FBKwFg and the surrounding rural districts of Mountain View County http://www.mountainviewcounty.com/ and Clearwater County http://www.clearwatercounty.ca/ The place of work is in a community designated for Canada Student Loan forgiveness. Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

A graduate of a recognized educational program (or equivalent) with a certificate as a Health Care Aide. Able to perform duties that involve periods of physical activity including standing, walking, bending and lifting and transferring patients. Evident upkeep of annual continuing education within AHS or other employer’s equivalency in: AHS orientation, CPR – C, It’s Your Move, Alberta Continuing Care Health Service Standards, Protection of Persons in Care, Patient and Family Centered Care 101, Understanding Responsive Behaviors or Supportive Pathways, Emergency Response Codes (10), Palliative Care for Support Workers, Medication Assistance in Long Term Care, Safe Bathing Competency, AHS Secure – collect it protect it, Infection Prevention and Control, Respect in the Workplace, Patient Relations, Ethics Governance Documents Policies and Procedures, RAI-MDS Paper Tracking Tool. AHS internal applicants; provide a copy of My Learning Link education report attached to application. Preferred Qualifications:
