The Healthcare Aide provides patient care as an unregulated worker under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Licensed Practical Nurse. The Health Care Aide reports to the Level III Adult Operating Room manager and will carry out duties in the Adult Short Stay Surgery & Post Anesthetic Care Unit or as directed by the Unit Manager. The successful applicant will be required to work in all areas. Duties will include but are not limited to assisting with Activities of Daily Living (ADL), lifting, transferring, and mobilizing patients, gathering, maintaining, cleaning supplies/equipment, transporting patients, supplies, specimens, and equipment, and other duties to assist with operational needs of portfolio, cleaning/tidying of the unit, assisting with pre/post-operative care, obtaining heights, weights, vital signs.
Description:
As a Health Care Aide (HCA), you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:
Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:
Ability to work within a team environment to ensure work is completed quickly and efficiently with minimal supervision. Able to work in a fast-paced environment with patients of varying mobility. Active registration with the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Acute care experience. Certified through a government of Alberta licensed post-secondary institution using the provincial Healthcare Aide Care curriculum or substantially equivalent educational background as compared to the Health Care Aide curriculum. Current Basic Life Support – Health Care Provider (BLS-HCP) registration. Deemed competent as assessed by an Alberta regulate nurse using the Provincial Competency Assessment Profile Tool. Must be able to communicate effectively with every member of the team. Must be able to work in a physically demanding environment as part of a multidisciplinary team. Must be capable of performing heavy duties requiring lifting, pushing, and pulling all patients with varying mobility. Preferred Qualifications:
