As a Health Care Aide, you are a member of our nursing care team. You will demonstrate genuine interest and respect for our clients and utilize your knowledge, skills, and abilities to competently provide direct client centered care. This position is suitable for candidates who have a strong interest and skills in providing care to the elderly client. Within the home care interdisciplinary team, the HCA is responsible for providing personal care and assisting with activities of daily living within the client’s authorized plan of care. Clients and their families are assisted to maximize their optimum level of independence. You will provide emotional support by being a good listener, being supportive, being friendly and sincere, and interacting in a positive and optimistic manner. You will provide care not limited to companionship, recreational activities, and supervision. You will perform health care duties as authorized on the client’s plan of care including simple dressings, medication assistance, catheter care, ostomy care, and exercises for range of movement and strengthening. You will regularly communicate with a regulated health professional on client status, care delivery, observations, and feedback; documentation of pertinent information and care provided; and participate in education and local home care office initiatives. Hanna is located 199 km from Red Deer, with a population of 2,673. The town offers its residents a friendly, safe, and small town lifestyle. Hanna residents benefit from a wide variety of amenities within the town, such as the Aquatic Centre for swimming, Centennial Place for fitness and other activities, and two lakes within 15 kilometers of the town where residents can waterski or enjoy the sandy beaches. There is also the Agri-Sports Complex where residents can skate, play hockey or curl.

Description:

As a Health Care Aide (HCA) – Nursing Attendant, you are responsible for providing personal assistance, supporting activities of daily living and providing comfort and support services to patients (clients, residents) who require short-term assistance or ongoing support. You will work closely with patients, families, and caregivers spanning the continuum of care in home, community or health care facilities. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Active directory status on the Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Must provide a confirmation letter as proof of enrolment from the Directory at https://www.albertahcadirectory.com/health-care-aides/confirmation/. Nursing students currently enrolled in an approved Alberta nursing program who have successfully completed a minimum of 100 hours of practicum; and are either in their 1st year of practical nursing program; or 2nd year of baccalaureate nursing or psychiatric nursing program will be considered. Must attest to this compliance and provide proof of qualification. Additional Required Qualifications:

At least 3 years of recent (within the last 5 years) experience in health care field with preference given to care for older or chronically ill clients in the community setting. Supportive Pathways or any dementia related courses. Medication Assistance Certificate or experience providing medication assistance as per the medication assistance program. Non-Violent Crisis Intervention.
