What you’ll do
- Process requests related to disclosure of and requests for patient information according to established policies and procedures by performing duties such as receiving requests for patient information; determining the necessity to request information based on department procedure, protocol and data capture requirements; maintaining a record of all written and/or verbal requests received and processed; and photocopying records as directed by supervisor.
- Perform assembly of records by filing loose papers according to established protocols, locating missing charts, and checking for deficient information to ensure that paper and electronic records are complete. Enter updated data into the computerized information system.
- Assist physicians in completing records by performing duties such as retrieving record, flagging deficiency and checking status for completion.
- Coordinate and prepare patient charts and other patient or administrative records for off-site storage with contracted vendor by initiating retrieval requests and organizing the return of records to storage, and recording location of records; identifying and following up on discrepancies with vendor and referring problems to supervisor; and making recommendations for changes to policies and procedures to address issues in the long term.
- Prepare patient charts for daily clinics by printing clinic lists, pulling charts, checking for completeness, and informing supervisor or designate of incomplete charts.
- Participate in continuous quality improvement activities by performing duties such as providing input/feedback to manager on processes and opportunities for process improvement.
What you bring
- Completion of Grade 12.
- Graduate of an approved program for Health Record Technicians.
- Two (2) years’ recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

- Physically carry out the duties of the position
