As an Industrial Project Coordinator for our PCL Industrial Management Inc. District in Edmonton, Alberta, you will contribute to our team by:

  • Performs and applies quantity takeoffs and surveys to manage contract progress and reporting.
  • Maintains contract with select subcontractors and is responsible for some subcontract administration, including defining work scope, answering inquiries, and monitoring progress.
  • Reviews and understands contract obligations as per the responsible work scope.
  • Manges change order process, including pricing, negotiating, processing, and assessing cost and schedule impact before reviewing with project manager. Performs simple estimates.
  • Develops and monitors overall project schedule.
  • Assists project manager in creating and issuing tender packages and subcontracts and monitoring their progress.
  • Maintains and performs project document control and procedures (administering RFIs, shop drawing and submittal process, maintaining as-built drawings, etc.).
  • Assists project manager and superintendent in managing and reporting overall project or select scope performance as per site HSE, cost management, schedule, and quality.
  • Provides proactive leadership for safety and quality programs.
  • Prepares and tracks progress claims and estimates.
  • Oversees inventory and tracking of materials and equipment, and expedites material orders.
  • Prepares work packages for self-perform work and maintains self-perform schedule and costing system.
  • Assists in overall construction coordination and planning.
  • Identifies and assists in resolving complex field technical issues.
  • Assists designers/engineers when reviewing drawings and suggests value-added or alternative construction methods or materials.
  • Develops and maintains strong stakeholder relationships.
  • Other duties as required.

Qualifications

What you will bring to the role:

  • Postsecondary degree in engineering, construction management, or a related discipline.
  • 5 years of construction experience in an operational role.
  • Mechanical/piping experience is required.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with multiple supervisors and sub-trades.
  • Intermediate knowledge of construction specifications, methods and procedures.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office software with a strong aptitude for adopting new technology/systems.
  • Ability to apply basic engineering principles to construction challenges.
  • Ability to work in a fast paced environment.
