Enhancing community care options for Albertans continues to be a key priority for AHS. To support this goal, the North Zone Addictions and Mental Health department has an exciting opportunity for Clinical Educator, Assertive Outreach and other community based/AMH services. You will promote staff clinical competence by developing, coordinating and delivering education for the North Zone AMH Portfolio. You will take a lead role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of evidence informed educational activities. You will collaborate and advise with other educators, health care professionals, management and staff to develop and implement educational initiatives, continuing education programming, and changes in policy, procedure, protocols, and technology. Using an evidence-based approach, you will evaluate and suggest improvements to instructional programs and clinical practice, supporting programming that is under development. You will conduct training courses/workshops and participate on special projects, task groups, and working committees. This role is focused on community where you will participate in grand rounds meetings. Provide support, and network with colleagues and teams across the northzone as needs present. Location is flexible within North Zone and agreed upon by hiring manager, preference is Fort McMurray/Grand Prairie. Discover a different way of life – in the (AHS’) North Zone. Description:

As an Instructor, you will be an expert practitioner and key educator in support of both nursing staff and the multi-disciplinary clinical team. You will take a leadership role in the planning, coordination, implementation and evaluation of education for nursing staff including orientation, compulsory and continuing education, and clinical development. You will collaborate with management and internal partners to promote standards of clinical, educational and evidence informed practice. You will play a key role in providing safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CRNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

In addition to a competitive rate of pay, AHS currently has a Remote Retention Allowance in place to an annual maximum of $3,000. This allowance is non-pensionable and is payable on an hourly basis for all hours paid at the basic rate of pay. Minimum of 5 years experience working in addiction and mental health in a clinical role, including experience working in inpatient psychiatry. Demonstrated understanding of adult learning principles and development of adult learning programs. Experience in various risk assessments and delivery of related training. A valid driver’s license is required in supporting the work that will take place across the North Zone. This position will require travel within the North Zone. Over time, this position may evolve to include other program areas and geographic responsibilities, and/or other duties as required. Some travel will be required. Preferred Qualifications:

Degree/psyc. Nursing/Nursing. Masters’ degree pref. Exp. as clinical nurse educator or assistant head nurse. Familiarity with Harm Reduction Principles, Psychosocial Rehabilitation, Patient/Family Centered Care, Recovery Oriented practice, ability to engage with difficult-to-serve populations. Experience: working with clients experiencing severe potential mental illness, using software for development and delivery of virtual facilitation, web based communication strategies. Rural experience.
