The position will report to the Manager, Investment Finance and will support the Private Equity and Infrastructure team with the monthly analysis of business partner financial results, support for quarterly/annual financial analysis to the Audit and Actuarial Committee of the OMERS Board and the preparation and analysis of information for the annual operating plan.
As a member of this team, you will be responsible for:
- Supporting the preparation of financial analysis including operational performance trends, variance analysis against operating plan and historical results, identifying operational and strategic implications, and helping to provide meaningful insights, advice, recommendations and key actions to business partners
- Preparing a variety of management reports including trend analysis, financial analysis
- Analyzing expense data to ensure it is accurate and properly accounted for
- Coordinating the monthly, quarterly and annual reporting process with other team members in Investment Finance and other business units
- Supporting the manager in finalizing plan requests, analyzing plan submissions for trends and communicating findings to management
- Participating in continuous process improvement initiatives
- Participating in projects and ad hoc requests as required
To succeed in this role, you have:
- Minimum 1 – 2 years of working experience in financial services
- University degree plus an accounting designation (CPA, CA, or CMA) or working towards completing an accounting designation
- Strong communication skills, interpersonal skills and proven track record of building trusting relationships
- Ability to build as well as deliver effective and informative presentations
- Strong analytical ability; able to clearly link financial results to strategic and operational activities
- Expert level skills using Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrated technical accounting skills and business acumen
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Proven ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment with numerous competing priorities and tight deadlines
- Self-starter able to work independently with minimal direct supervision
- Strong standout colleague with a positive attitude, willingness to help and “go above and beyond”
