Job Description Summary

Position Overview:

This position is responsible for communicating and supporting JM core values and delivering the JM experience. The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness of a building and the surrounding grounds. Their duties include vacuuming floors, sanitizing restroom facilities and collecting trash to ensure the building’s occupants have a clean space.

Responsibilities:

The Custodian’s main responsibility is to clean a workspace, warehouse, or similar space. This task is broken down into several duties performed throughout the day or at other regular intervals, such as:

  • Adheres to established procedures to provide a safe working environment
  • Maintains a clean and orderly environment
  • Properly cleans and maintains multiple areas as assigned
  • Follows procedures for storage and disposal of trash and transports it to designated areas
  • Reports maintenance concerns via work order requests to appropriate personnel
  • Frequently removes dusts and debris from high and low surfaces
  • Completes any daily paperwork required
  • Cleaning the restrooms, a Kitchenette and office areas.
  • Sweeping, mopping, and dusting
  • Industrial Cleaning to include high dusting
  • Other duties and tasks as assigned by manager

Leadership Responsibilities:

  • There are no supervisory responsibilities for direct reports for this position.

Requirements: (education, skills, and abilities)

  • Sufficient education and technical expertise to comprehend written and oral instructions (work orders); to accomplish maintenance tasks; and to document accomplished tasks.
  • Previous custodial experience preferred but not required

Physical Requirements:

The physical requirements of this position are: (these requirements are typical for most of our manufacturing roles)

  • The ability to stand for extended periods
  • The ability to manually lift, push or pull at least 50 pounds safely and with proper body mechanics, sometimes while in awkward positions.
  • Use of hands (repetitive motion, grabbing, feeling, sensing, pulling)
  • The ability to work safely in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful work environment
  • The ability to safely and effectively work in an often-dusty work environment that experiences a broad range of temperatures (very hot to very cold).
  • The ability to withstand the rigors of working a 12(or 8)-hour rotating shift schedule.
  • The ability to bend, stoop or kneel repetitively.
  • The ability to reach or work above the shoulder
