What you will do:
The Library seeks an innovative and tech-savvy part-time liaison librarian to support teaching, learning and research for the Kinesiology program at the University of Guelph-Humber. A central part of the role is teaching information and digital literacy competencies to students based on course learning outcomes and in consultation with instructors, with the goal of integrating and scaffolding content throughout the curriculum. With a focus on active learning and student engagement, the Librarian uses teaching methods and develops learning objects grounded in the Universal Design for Learning framework. Teaching modalities may range from in-person synchronous learning to hybrid and online asynchronous modules.
The Librarian provides research help services, assisting students, faculty and staff with accessing and using library resources via in-person, video and chat/text (Ask A Librarian) service points. The incumbent accommodates individual and small group consultations with students and faculty who require research assistance. Developing and maintaining collections in all formats in the assigned liaison area is also part of the role. Together with the Manager, Learning Services, the Librarian leads website content development and updates for the University of Guelph-Humber library site. Program and course reviews, curriculum development support and participation in scholarly communication activities are integral to the position. The Librarian builds relationships with faculty and administrators to facilitate awareness of library services and to learn about library-related needs and opportunities for collaboration. Working with the librarian and library administrative teams, the incumbent participates in service delivery and content development outside their liaison area to support students’ academic success (e.g. library orientations). The Librarian shapes their teaching, collections and research help practices using the core values of equity, diversity and inclusion throughout.
What you bring to the role:
