Aramark Canada is currently hiring for: Food Service Workers, General Help, Sous-Chefs to join our Dalhousie Food Services team!
Are you currently in the industry and looking for work-life balance!? Aramark Canada is currently seeking skilled First Cooks to join the Dalhousie Food Services team! Reporting to the Residential Dining Manager and the Sous-Chef, the First Cook is responsible for supporting the Sous-Chef in providing guidance to the culinary team in addition to preparing, cooking and serving a variety of foods to students in residence.
This is a union position with SEIU Local 2. The starting wage is $18.19, however, the Collective Agreement is under negotiation and wages will be subject to increase.
Job Responsibilities
- Assures quality, courteous customer service is provided to all customers
- Provide support and guidance to Food Service Workers, Prep, and Grill Cooks with regards to culinary technique and best practice
- Cook required items in accordance with menu, using grill, ovens, and fryers
- Serve food on the line, replenishing when necessary
- Maintains continual cleaning and sanitizing of surrounding work area
- Assists with culinary auditing, temperature checking of food items within kitchen, stations, fridge’s and freezers
- Adherence to Aramark’s policies and procedures, including Occupational Health and Safety and Food Safety
- May perform other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- 5+ years prep cook, grill cook, line cook experience considered an asset
- 1+ years’ experience in a leadership role
- Working toward Red Seal considered an asset
- Valid WHMIS, Food Safe Advanced Certification, First Aid Certification considered an asset
- Must be able to work effectively and efficiently, supervised and unsupervised
- Must be able to lift, push, pull min. 25 lbs
- Must be flexible, evening and weekend work may be required
