The successful candidate will have proven abilities to deliver and design a variety of learning and development programs. In-depth knowledge of learning trends and delivery methods (including web-based and multi-media technologies) will further enable your success in this role. The candidate will have excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills with the ability to build strong relationships within a diverse organization.
As a Learning and Development Specialist for our North American Headquarters district office in Edmonton, AB, you will contribute to our team by:
- Applying adult learning methodologies to deliver and design instructor-led courses in the areas of communication, personal efficiency, supervision, leadership development, etc.
- Providing company-wide facilitation and consultation services on all matters related to learning and development and related initiatives.
- Developing and maintaining strong, customer-focused relationships with all stakeholders, including learners, subject matter experts, and colleagues from other departments/districts.
- Designing training for diverse modalities that include instructor-led classroom-based, virtual synchronous and asynchronous delivery, e-learning, micro-learning, and performance support programs based on PCL’s educational standards.
- Looking for opportunities to modify and/or enhance existing programs as part of our continuous improvement philosophy by:
- Researching best practices and industry trends with respect to content and delivery methods,
- Collaborating with subject matter experts to identify organizational needs and/or changes,
- Assessing the needs of the participants before, during and after course deliveries.
- Applying principles of project management and instructional design to manage learning programs throughout their lifecycle (needs assessment, design, development, delivery, and maintenance).
- Contributing to standards and evaluates courses or programs and implements revisions to improve quality.
- Facilitating partnering and team building sessions with internal and external stakeholders
- Traveling across Canada to district offices and job sites to deliver training will be required. The actual travel schedule will vary according to time of year and company needs.
Qualifications
What you will bring to the role:
- Minimum of three years of facilitation, instructing or course development experience. Experience in a corporate environment is considered an asset.
- A bachelor’s degree in a related field, such as education or organizational development is preferred, however, equivalent education and/or experience will be considered.
- Knowledge and practical application of adult learning and instructional design theory and best practices.
- Candidates with a demonstrated commitment to lifelong learning, as shown by industry involvement, the completion of certifications, and/or additional formal education, will receive preference.
- Experience using rapid authoring tools, software, and a Learning Management System (LMS) for the development and delivery of eLearning is considered an asset.
- Knowledge or experience in the construction industry are considered assets.
- Exceptional team player with strong customer service orientation.
