JOB TITLE: TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR, ALBERTA
REPORTS TO: Regional Transportation Manager- Western Canada
DEPARTMENT: Transportation
LOCATION: Alberta
STATUS: Full Time, Salaried
POSITION SUMMARY:
The supervisor ,Transportation assists the Regional Manager ,Transportation with all facets of the department’s operations and personnel ,in order to maximize production,minimize costs and to ensure a safe and effecient work environment.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure compliance with all the company policies and Ministry of Transportation safety procedures
Provide direction within all operating areas of the department and collaborate with the dispatch team as required.
Communicate daily with the Manager, Transportation regarding all aspects of transportation operations, production results, equipment and personnel issues.
Comply with all Employment and Health & Safety Policies and Procedures
Actively participate in the Joint Health and Safety committees & communicate safety issues with all Staff & members of the JHSC
Manage all employee scheduling, start times and vacation planning.
Conduct a minimum of 2 in Cab Evaluations per driver annually or as required.
Conduct and assist in accident & Incident investigations.
Participate in annual driver evaluation reviews
Provide complete orientation to all new employees
Maintain up to date record (abstract) on each driver
Responsible for administering drivers training and all Tool Box Talks with participation from the JHSC members.
Ensure all drivers understand their duties, responsibilities and Company policies, both existing and new
Ensure all drivers have uniforms and personal safety gear requirements daily.
Process drivers’ hours and submit to Manager, Transportation for review. Must understand and use Ultipro.
Perform physical vehicle inspection on a monthly basis. Findings to be recorded and sent to the Transportation Manager for review.
Address Maintenance issues as they occur and correspond with maintenance shops for repairs.
Assist in managing off site equipment (reporting defects as required)
Track drivers statistics
Manage and maintain drivers supplies and inventories
Monitor daily vehicle trip inspections, pre trip and post trip reports
Responsible for Site Safety observations, CSSO’s & DSI’s in all lines of business. ( New and exisitng)
Responsible for drivers daily roll call.
To maintain effective and professional communication between departments at all times
Travel to other cities within your region to ensure same level of consistancy with other team

QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
- Completion of a college Diploma in a business related field
Skills/Experience:
- 3-5 years in a Supervisor position preferably in the transportation industry
- Class 3 licence with air required (Or Higher)
- Roll Off and Rear Packer driving experience a plus
- Knowledge of forklift operation
- Knowledge of applicable laws, codes, regulations, policies and procedures
- Excellent management writing and verbal communication skills
- Proven skills to interact effectively with employees at all levels in the organization
- Strong communication & organizational skills
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Normal plant/outside work environment with seasonal exposure to hot and cold temperatures
- Percentage of time spent in office environment
