Job description: The Master Scheduler will coordinate schedules and inventories to ensure efficient and effective operation of the assigned department or facility.

Responsibilities

  • Serves as a primary point of contact for and liaison with sales, logistics, engineering and manufacturing departments.
  • Collaborates with these departments to establish schedules and plans that allocate available resources to best serve business needs.
  • Periodically compares current and anticipated orders with available inventory; uses judgment to anticipate demand for and to acquire additional supplies as needed.
  • Negotiates with outside supply vendors; ensures accurate and timely delivery of orders.
  • Integrates revenue plan with master schedule and coordinates product deliveries and FGI levels with supply base.
  • Maintains master schedule for the company; revises as needed and alerts appropriate staff of schedule changes or delays.
  • Participates in forecasting/planning meetings with sales, marketing, and other related departments.
  • Identifies, negotiates and resolves conflicts with respect to material and capacity availability and order-promising integrity.
  • Is accountable to run the Planning process and drive actions. Lead internal daily and monthly SIOP meeting.
  • Plans, schedules, and releases Production, NPI, Repairs and Spares.
  • Supports transition plans and updates item planning parameters (material ownership, lead times, lot sizes, etc.) accordingly.
  • Monitors and maintains inventory levels. Highlight’s shortages and overages to management.
  • Maintains part parameters such as lead times and safety stocks.
  • Establishes a working line of communication with all company functions.
  • Communicates when demand cannot be met and recommends alternatives on how the requested demand could be satisfied.
  • Reviews, identifies and resolves material shortages with the appropriate supplier(s).
  • Works with Sales to drive changes in forecasting.
  • Understands capacity levels in production.
  • Involved in Continuous Improvement projects.
  • Performs other related duties, as required.

Qualifications

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Thorough understanding of the business and supply chain.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Extremely proficient with ERPs/production planning systems, such as MRP II.
  • Detail-oriented, ability to multi-task and prioritize tasks with strict deadlines.
  • Flexible, able to react to changes as needed and able to handle a wide range of activities.
  • Ability to work in a team environment.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Take initiative and seek additional training or direction as needed.
  • Proficient computer skills and able to work with multiple systems.
  • Deep understanding of Excel; Pivot tables, advanced functions, macros, etc.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field required.
  • At least five years of related experience required.
  • Professional certification by the American Production and Inventory Control Society (APICS) preferred.
