Job description: Your Opportunity:

The Claresholm Centre for Mental Health & Addictions is actively seeking a Mental Health Aide to join the team. The centre is a 120-bed facility with an attached outpatient program (community support services) of 40 spaces. There are three primary inpatient units at the site include Concurrent Disorders, Active Psychiatric Rehabilitation, Extended Psychiatric Rehabilitation and Transitions Unit. Professionals at the Centre believe in each individual’s potential for development and success. Our team includes nurses, social workers, psychiatrists, psychologist, physicians, pharmacists, recreational and occupational therapists, dieticians and other mental health providers. Once a patient is ready for transition and re-entry into community living, follow-up support, outpatient programs and outreach services are coordinated for patients. These form a comprehensive treatment model with various service options for patients. As the successful candidate you will be expected to demonstrate time management and prioritization skills in a rapidly changing environment; be self-directed and show initiative; strong interpersonal and communication skills; collaboration with the interdisciplinary team; problem solving, decision making, critical thinking and conflict resolution skills; patient advocacy using a person-centred approach; and foster positive relationships within a team environment.

Description:

As a Mental Health Aide, you will work as a collaborative member of the multidisciplinary team to provide a welcoming and safe care environment. You will assist in the provision of direct patient/client care as delegated in a person-centered, recovery oriented and safe manner. In this position, you will assist and / or promote independence to patients/clients in completing activities of daily living as well as assisting other health professionals with providing treatments and observing and reporting relevant patient/client information to professional staff. You will assist new patients/clients and families with orientation, and assist in the general support of the work area.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of Grade 12. Completion of Health Care Aide or Mental Health Aide Certificate or equivalent. Additional Required Qualifications:

Must retain current registration with Alberta Health Care Aide Directory. Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Preferred Qualifications:
