Position Summary
We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join our Mental Health & Substance Use (MHSU) team in Castlegar, B.C.

The Opioid Agonist Treatment program nurse will provide initial intake and assessment for clients interested in this program. Short term case management and physician assistance will be a large part of this role. In addition this position will be responsible for coordinating the education and dispensing of naloxone kits to clients. Experience in substance use is preferred and an understanding of evidence based practice for opioid dependence is required. We are looking for a clinician who is flexible and well organized, with strong communication and counselling skills. The OAT nurse works alongside the OAT physician in assisting clients with services to help with opioid withdrawal. As the MHSU Nurse, you will ensure that persons with serious severe and persistent mental health problems and/or problematic substance use who may or may not be in crisis have access to timely, responsive, evidence-based treatment. You will provide assessment, treatment, case management, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. Functioning as the primary clinician, you will utilize a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Casual shifts are scheduled on an as-needed basis between Monday to Friday, 08:30 to 16:30.

Qualifications
Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).

Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
