Position Summary
The town of Castlegar is located in the scenic Columbia Valley where the Kootenay and Columbia Rivers meet. Situated in the Rockies Region of British Columbia between Vancouver and Calgary, it is a hub for commercial activity in the area. A great opportunity exists for a Mental Health & Substance Use Registered Nurse or Registered Psychiatric Nurse to join the warm and caring team with Developmental Disability Mental Health Services.
We are seeking applicants with at least 2 years of experience in mental health and substance use and knowledge and experience in developmental disabilities.

Developmental Disability Mental Health Services is an Interior Health tertiary mental health program that provides specialized mental health consultation and services to individuals 14 years and older who have both an intellectual developmental disorder and mental health disorder.

The Registered Nurse provides assessment, treatment, case coordination, community support, and as required, urgent response to clients who may also have serious functional impairment in the domains of physical health and personal, family, financial, occupational, and social life. The Registered Nurse functions as a primary clinician utilizing a variety of specialized treatment modalities/therapies for individuals, groups of clients and/or their families.

Shifts of work are from Monday to Friday 08:00 to 16:00 hours.

Qualifications
Graduation from an approved school of nursing. Two years’ recent related MHSU experience in the assigned clinical area(s) (such as Counselling & Treatment Services; Treatment, Support & Recovery Services; Crisis Response; Seniors MHSU Services; Substance Use; Developmental Disability Mental Health Services (DDMHS), etc.) or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Current practicing registration with the British Columbia College of Nurses and Midwives (BCCNM).
Current valid B.C. driver’s license.
