Job description: Your Opportunity:

The successful candidate is responsible for the provision of advanced clinical services, including assessment, diagnosis, treatment and evaluation to a diverse and complex patient group ranging from children to seniors. Services include both individual and group treatment. The incumbent works independently as they are located in medical clinics and are responsible for providing Behavioural Health Care Services, which are short-term psychological counselling interventions for patients with addiction and mental health issues, as well as complex medical conditions. The incumbent is required to synthesize a large amount of highly complex information in a short time period and provide same day documentation. The incumbent also provides Shared Care Services, which involve both formal and informal consultation and education for physicians and other staff in medical clinics regarding their patients and services available for them, as well as in-services on a variety of addiction and mental health topics (as request). This position requires a high degree of clinical skill and experience as well as exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to function independently in a non-AHS work setting, as they typically bridge between medical clinics and other AHS Addiction and Mental Health programs. These positions complete a wide variety of administrative tasks for the program and the department. The position covers urban and rural clinics. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs will be considered: Bachelor of Social Work including training and experience in mental health assessment and psychotherapy and who have psychosocial intervention authorization. Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Therapy or, a) Related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or bachelor’s degree in nursing with: a) related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or b) experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Authorization to do mental health psycho-social intervention is required. Preferred Qualifications:
