Reporting to a Manager or designate of the Central Zone – Addiction & Mental Health Services, the Disordered Eating Consultant provides timely and appropriate services for clients/families, health care professionals, community agencies and educational facilities by coordinating access to information and resources. The position responds to general inquiries for information from public or professionals about disordered eating; supports practitioners who are providing services to persons with disordered eating, assists with program and resource development. Additionally this position provides information regarding access and linkage to specialized services in Calgary and Edmonton. This regional position provides services across all Addiction and Mental Health Service Programs.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

You are registered under the Health Professions Act with five years recent experience in Addictions & Mental Health and a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with people with disordered eating. Education and experience with specialized training in consultation, diagnosis and treatment of disordered eating with a strong nutrition background Equivalencies may be considered. In addition a strong working knowledge of eating disorders and advanced nutrition knowledge is essential. You have knowledge and experience in providing consultation to others and in public speaking. Candidate must have the ability to provide the restricted practice of psychosocial interventions. You are a self-directed, highly motivated individual with exceptional leadership, organizational and problem-solving skills. As an active and supportive team member, you have excellent communication skills and the ability to work independently. You should remain current with research, evidence, new developments and emerging trends related to the prevention of and treatment for disordered eating. Candidate must have the ability to provide clinical consultation and education in multiple formats to multiple target populations. A valid driver’s license and your own transportation are required.
