Job description: Your Opportunity:

As an experienced and skilled mental health professional, the Mental Health Therapist Provincial (MHT) works as a member of an interdisciplinary team, providing community based, recovery oriented assessment, treatment, follow-up and/or case management to adults experiencing severe and persistent mental illness or those with concurrent disorders. The MHT must be able to assess needs, plan and provide interventions and evaluate outcomes autonomously and within their prescribed scope of practice. Clinical services are delivered in the clinic and may include home when deemed necessary. Effective collaboration with families, other providers and a range of stakeholders is required. Formal consultation skills and abilities are required in liaison work with multiple agencies. Critical thinking skills, advance knowledge of mental illnesses and evidence based/ informed treatment (including risk assessment and crisis management), working knowledge of the identification and management of concurrent disorders and medical co-morbidities, and the principles of chronic disease management and recovery are required.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Occupational therapy with considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with: A related Master’s degree including raining in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or considerable experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Minimum of 3 years’ of relevant mental health experience. Preferred Qualifications:

Conducts comprehensive mental health assessments including direct observation/questioning. Reviews collected data and assessment findings to formulate a provisional diagnostic impression (DSM V). Ensures timely and appropriate re-assessment of clients on a regular basis and/or when situations dictate. Develops a comprehensive recovery plan in collaboration with client/family and other partners). Proficient use of Electronic Medical Recording (Connect Care).
