Addictions and Mental Health Access 24/7 is an exciting new opportunity to offer a centralized and integrated intake using a “front door” location at Anderson Hall. Reporting to the Care Manager, the Mental Health Therapist functions in the context of a multi-disciplinary team that provides quality, client-focused, recovery-based, concurrent capable, culturally appropriate care to those seeking supports/services within Addictions and Mental Health. About Access 24/7: Access 24/7 is a single point of contact for AHS and Covenant addiction and mental health community services. The range of services includes assessment, crisis intervention, system navigation, and stabilization services to the residents of the City of Edmonton and suburban areas. Access will conduct triage, screening and assessment in order to best match an individuals’ need(s) to services and programs. Access 24/7 offers a wide range of services, as indicated, which offer the least intrusive and most appropriate services to clients and their families whether that be within clinic, community or client’s home, which are based on the needs identified. As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence-informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Description:

As the Mental Health Therapist, you will be required to use a variety of treatment modalities (individual, family, and group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

Consideration will also be given to Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Nursing with a related Master’s degree including training in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy or, considerable experience in mental health assessment and treatment. Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Minimum of 3 years of relevant mental health experience. A minimum of 3 years direct crisis experience, preferably in a community setting. Formal clinical training in triage, intervention, stabilization and case management skills, preferably in a community setting. Ability to ambulate, climb stairs, and move quickly without limitations in a variety of environments. Extensive knowledge of the resources of Addiction and Mental Health and the community. Possession of a valid Class 5 driver’s license as work-related travel is required. Preferred Qualifications:

Demonstrated ability to work well with a range of community and agency stakeholders as well as clients and families.
