Job description: Your Opportunity:

As a Mental Health Therapist with the Children Youth and Families Addiction and Mental Health (CFY A&MH) team, you will work with the School Based Team to provide expert consultation and treatment for adolescents with complex mental health disorders in their school, community and home. In this position, your responsibilities will include assessment, consultation, family counselling, behavior management interventions and effective involvement with school stakeholders. You will also utilize a variety of treatment modalities in a variety of formats (individual, family, group) for persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral, case management and treatment. This is a school year position. The service is closed July and August and on all holidays and breaks (Christmas, Spring Break). The position works on all instructional school days. Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to: Provide high quality care by being an effective liaison between the school, child, family and other health partners. Collaborate with the family to assess and develop treatment plans. Ensure that physicians and other relevant partners are involved in assessment and care. Communicate effectively with treating psychiatrists to facilitate access to timely treatment changes. Provide mental health interventions as the treatment plan indicates and collaborate with school staff to plan appropriate follow-up.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will have strong organization skills and thrive on being self-directed in your work. You will demonstrate a high degree of independence and have adept communication and assessment skills. You will be comfortable navigating the complexities of working across different systems and working with complex issues relating to the mental health of children, youth and families. This will include building relationships and trust in non-traditional ways and identifying alternate solutions to provide support. Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). A minimum of three (3) years clinical child and adolescent mental health experience within the last five (5) years. Previous experience with the assessment and treatment of children/adolescents with mental health concerns/diagnoses. Previous formal clinical training in child and adolescent mental health. Previous experience with crisis management. Previous experience working within school environments. Preferred Qualifications:

Previous experience working with trauma. Previous experience working with Child and Family Services and/or Multicultural groups, such as community, friendship, or settlement services. Experience with child and adolescent mental health therapeutic interventions such as various family therapies, CBT, Play, EMDR and Solution-Focused Therapy.
