Job description: Your Opportunity:
As part of the Children, Youth & Families – Addiction & Mental Health acute care inpatient unit 35/36 located within the Royal Alexandra Hospital and reporting to the unit manager, you will work closely with the child psychiatrist, parents, and multidisciplinary teams, including teachers. You will provide services from a concurrent capable, recovery oriented, family centered framework, addressing the needs across the continuum of care. Working both independently and as a member of a collaborative team, your will provide evidence informed and best practices in crisis intervention, assessment, consultation, referral and short-term treatment to the inpatient children and youth. As a Mental Health Therapist Provincial (MHT), you will be required to perform the restricted activity of psychosocial intervention utilizing a variety of treatment modalities (individual, group) to persons experiencing significant mental health difficulties. The MHT responsibilities will all include liaising, working in partnership with community professional in the continuum of Addiction and Mental Health care.

Required Qualifications:
Completion of one of the following programs: master’s degree in Psychology; master’s degree in Social Work (clinical specialization) including education in mental health assessment and psychotherapy; master’s degree in Occupational Therapy including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy; master’s degree in Nursing and Psychiatric Nursing including training and experience in mental health assessment and provision of psychotherapy. Active or eligible for registration with the applicable regulatory college. Additional Required Qualifications:
Experience working with children and families required. Minimum of 2 years direct clinical experience with the focus on children/adolescent and their families. Must be able to meet the physical demands of the position, and provide hands on care to patients in unpredictable, urgent situations. Preferred Qualifications:
Current Non-Violent Crisis Intervention or Effective De-Escalation Techniques training preferred. Suicide risk assessment and safety planning. Experience working with diverse populations. Knowledge of child development and family systems theories
