The salary range for this position is:

Recruitment range: $49,917 – $56,181 starting salary determined by the PEA .

Performance range: starting salary to max of $65,512 is available through annual performance increases.

Job Summary

The School is home to the Philip T. Young Recital Hall, a 220-seat performance venue and CReaTe Lab, a dedicated, state-of-the-art recording studio integral to the delivery of the Music and Computer Science and Master of Music Technology programs.

Position responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing, maintaining, and implementing equipment in the CReaTe Lab, Recital Hall, classrooms, rehearsal spaces, and faculty offices
  • Managing recording (both professional and student) of performances on campus
  • Mentoring students and faculty regarding technological equipment and techniques

Work hours will occasionally vary to meet operational requirements. This position may be on-call for emergency situations related to School of Music events and equipment.

Job Requirements

This position requires a post-secondary credential in a related field such as Music Technology or Sound Engineering plus experience in professional studio, broadcast, or live sound settings.

Knowledge requirements include:

  • Knowledge of classical, jazz, world, and contemporary music
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current audio engineering tools and platforms, including Pro Tools, Reaper, Max, Dante, Adobe Creative Suite.
  • Project management best practices

Competency requirements include:

  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment
  • Proven track record achieving project goals on time and produce deliverables of a high quality
  • Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and with all levels of university personnel
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize, make decisions independently, be self-motivated, and consistently meet deadlines
  • Demonstrated leadership skills and the ability to inspire a team

Assets:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Music Technology or Sound Engineering
  • Experience working at a post-secondary institution
  • A current artistic practice in an area of music technology or sound engineering
  • Supervisory experience
  • Experience managing budgets, and procuring equipment
