The Opportunity

Portland Tractor is looking for a self-motivated Operations Analyst to join our team in Langley, British Columbia. As the Operations Analyst, you will drive operational excellence for several branch locations in Canada and the United States, and you will play a key role in building sustainable processes and procedures for multiple service lines. Reporting to the Director of Finance of Operations, this is a unique opportunity where you will be able to take ownership of your work, drive change, and develop and progress with our growing company.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

As the Operations Analyst, your key responsibilities will include:

Operations Excellence

  • Work closely with stakeholders to map processes and identify key operational issues and opportunities for improvement
  • Utilize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to streamline processes and drive continuous improvement
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of various operational tasks and continuous improvement efforts
  • Participate in assigned projects ensuring project delivery is within budget and timelines
  • Monitor freight and brokerage activities, maximizing value and reducing costs
  • Conduct audits to identify inefficiencies in current operational processes and recommend areas for improvement
  • Manage and maintain accurate documentation, standard operating procedures and training materials
  • Assist in developing, implementing, and monitoring KPIs to track project success

Inventory Management

  • Evaluate, adjust and maintain stocking levels and re-order points
  • Develop and manage Bills of Material (BOM)
  • Review quality of inventory and develop processes to identify and manage low performing inventory
  • Lead stock counting efforts and identify and resolve inventory issues
  • Work with department managers to categorize and organize inventory and set up warehouses
  • Prepare and review inventory control reports

ERP

  • Assist with implementation and maintenance of the ERP
  • Lead and provide training and support to team members on ERP system and operating procedures
  • Ensure our part number information is consistent throughout our branches

Required Skills & Qualifications

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge, and competencies:

  • 2-5 years of related work experience
  • Bachelor’s degree or diploma in operations management, or equivalent, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent project management skills; project management (PMP) certification preferred but not required
  • Exceptional Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, IF function, etc.), as well as working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Strong planning and organizational skills and time-management skills, with the ability manage multiple projects in parallel
  • Knowledge of ERP systems, architecture, configuration, and customization options
  • Knowledge of Lean principals and experience implementing them
  • A self-starter who can work autonomously with minimal direction and supervision
  • Solution oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
  • Strong analytical skills, and comfortable working with numbers and data
  • Polished written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to travel to branch locations in Canada and USA as needed (25%)

The base pay range for this role is: $75,000 to $85,000
