In joining our team at this stage, you would play a critical role in taking our technology to a scalable API-centric platform. We are looking for someone with back-end knowledge and experience in API design and development. You would play a critical role in the development of our platform, helping the team to plan and code across our technology stack.

Note: This is a hybrid opportunity for someone based in Vancouver, BC. This is also a part-time role with the potential to become a full-time position (i.e. ideal for developers going back to school, professionals look for flexibility for family arrangements, etc). Requirements

Who you are

• You have 4+ years of web development experience
• Have worked with PHP 7 or 8, bonus points for projects using Laravel
• Experience with Docker
• Experience with MySQL
• You understand the value of testing and automation across an application
• You’re able to clearly articulate your knowledge and reasoning to technical and non-technical team members
• You insist on using great tools — you’re excited to work in an open environment where you and your colleagues embrace change and new resources in order to achieve the ultimate goal
• Proficient understanding of code versioning tools (Git)
• You obsess about the details and getting them right
• Strong time management skills and the ability to work independently
• You question the status quo, take ownership of your work, and proactively identify and address issues and opportunities

Bonus points for

• You have experience with SaaS products
• Experience with GraphQL
• You have worked on or build apps for a platform that enables 3rd parties to develop apps using APIs
• Experience with Test Driven Development
• Ability to implement automated test
• Understanding of the Agile process
• Experience with bringing legacy into the future and helping us modernize our technology
• Management of hosting environment, including database administration and scaling an application to support load changes.
• Experience with Amazon Web Services
• Experience contributing to Open Source projects

What you’ll do

• Play a critical role on our team, working closely with our team of designers and developers, to help take our technology from a PHP system to a scalable API-centric platform
• Bring an informed and evolving perspective to the development of our platform, helping shape the direction of our technology and the impact we have on our customers
• Be encouraged to learn and grow as a developer while bringing a curious and ambitious perspective to your work
• Contribute technical expertise to all aspects of our software development process, from planning, and architecture, through to testing, deployment and maintenance
• Document APIs and software you help build
• Write clean, modular, robust code to implement the desired requirements
• Identify and prototype best practices for back-end engineering
