Job Description
MLSE is looking for a Partnership Strategist with a passion for problem-solving and thinking outside of the box to join the Host City Partnerships team. The Host City Partnerships team operates within the MLSE Global Partnership team and is responsible for developing local (Toronto/GTA/Ontario) supporters and donors for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Reporting to the Commercial Lead, Host City Partnerships, this role will focus on strategies that drive revenue for all programs and properties related to 2026 FIFA World Cup activities in the GTA, some of which may begin in 2024 and 2025.
The ideal candidate will be a curious, creative, and organized thought leader capable of multitasking, evaluating new opportunities, and communicating key insights with an executive tone.
The role
- Develops a deep and thorough understanding of project goals and other host city plans.
- Stays current on developments and business/marketing trends within key categories.
- Stays current on industry trends and optimally shares insights and best practices, especially around sports, events, and sponsorship marketing.
- Has a revenue-driving mindset and proactively identifies net new opportunities to enhance the revenue goals.
- Builds and fosters trusted relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Leads the development of external-facing partnership documents, including presentations/decks and new business proposals.
- Leads the development of internal-facing executive-level documents to summarize project status, and articulate strategic priorities.
- Participates in prospective partner presentation meetings.
- Attends regular status meetings with key stakeholders and provides updates on key developments as required.
Qualifications

- Proven meaningful experience in a marketing, strategy, or consulting role.
- Corporate partnership and/or professional services consulting experience is nice to have.
- Has experience leading projects from insights generation to completion.
- Post-secondary degree or diploma, preferably in a business-related discipline.
- Solid comprehension of marketing, business development, partnerships, and research fundamentals
- Ability to provide strategic insight, thought leadership and clear communication (written and verbal) to internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent deck-building and presentation skills.
- Excellent time and project management skills.
- Comfortable with public speaking.
- Ability to build and maintain professional relationships both internally and externally.
- Proven to be inclusive and empathetic within a team environment; you seek to understand others’ perspectives and incorporate that into your approach.
- Able to operate in an ambiguous and fluid environment.
- Ability to perform well under pressure and handle multiple priorities at the same time.
- A positive, winning approach, incorporating integrity, confidentiality and discretion.
- The role may require availability on evenings and weekends from time to time as needed due to the nature of our business.
