The Pharmacy Technician Educator serves the educational needs of pharmacy technicians and assistants in the UAH pharmacy department. The Pharmacy Technician Educator will lead the orientation of new staff, continuing education, and introduction and orientation of new department policy and procedures. The educator will also participate in special projects, working groups, and other pharmacy initiatives. The educator should expect to work in technician shifts and maintain his/her professional practice and awareness of site processes.

Description:

As a Pharmacy Technician I, you will be responsible for the preparation and distribution of pharmaceutical products. You will receive and triage medication orders, compound and repackage medication and prepare sterile and non-sterile pharmaceutical products.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of a CCAPP-accredited Pharmacy Technician Training Program. Active or eligible for registration with the Alberta College of Pharmacy (ACP) as a Pharmacy Technician. Additional Required Qualifications:

Previous hospital experience is required. Connect Care experience is required. The ability to follow oral and written instructions accurately and be able to distinguish routine functions with those requiring professional judgment is essential. Computer and keyboarding skills are necessary. Must be able to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods of time. Some lifting is required. Manual dexterity and visual acuity to accurately prepare pharmaceuticals is required. Preferred Qualifications:

PTSA membership is an asset. Preference given to individuals with previous experience at the UAH pharmacy department. Working and practical knowledge of Epic and experience with prior implementations process changes is an asset.
