Job description: Responsible for ensuring adequate support to Customers, Sales and Upper Management as well as intra and inter department support. It involves Buying rate negotiations / carrier procurement as well as quotations for existing Customers, including key, strategic and high profile accounts, and for potential prospects. Assignments include frequent multi-level/rounds of negotiations of both buying and selling rates, GP maximization and parity with market conditions, involving medium to high level carrier negotiations, management of carrier contracts and amendments, carrier allocation, booking instructions, drayage budgeting, special projects, analysis reports and projections covering both the internal and external demand (Customers, Account Stake Holders and/or Management). Position also covers for staff training, supervision and troubleshooting at medium to high level.
This position must ensure client satisfaction through consistent and quality customer service.
Principal Accountabilities
Tasks and Responsibilities
*Pricing: creation and/or updating of quotations using service contracts, offers from Carriers / Vendors and/or by following Company’s rate guidelines.
*Communication with Account Stake Holders regarding industry updates and market changes on regular basis.
*Occasionally trains new employees to follow pricing procedures and standards set by management.
*Occasionally works as backup for other Co-workers within Pricing Department.
*Is expected to achieve high level of performance in all pricing goals and directions from Management.
*Problem Solving at medium to high level.
Deliverables and Achievables
*Frequent rate and cost reviews and analysis, maintaining detailed P&L lists for existing accounts, supporting intra and inter departments: Pricing, Operations, Billing, Accounting, Booking, Business Development and Sales departments.
*Constant rate negotiations for GP maximization.
*Rate procurement with Carriers / Vendors, involving direct or indirect negotiations
*Drayage rate negotiations with Trucking Companies.
*Special projects, analysis reports and projections as requested by Customer, Account Stake Holders and/or Management

Knowledge and Skills:
Business Skills
*Excellent communication skills and comprehension – oral and written
*Must be proficient with Microsoft Excel at “Power User Level”, MS Power Point, and have the ability to learn and use other applications
*Works well with little supervision; able to function with little social interaction
Special Knowledge
*Minimum 3-4 years ocean freight industry experience and 1-2 years ocean freight pricing experience
*Geography of ocean ports and hubs, especially Asia and North America
*Must be constantly up-to-date with Industry standards and general market conditions
*Industry expertise and knowledge of other modes of transportation considered an asset
Soft Skills
*Detail-minded, analytical, and able to concentrate for extended periods of time – Excellent organizational skills
*Able to meet strict deadlines in a time-sensitive, fast-paced environment
