Work Arrangements
The Music Department in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Performing Arts is seeking to expand its list of instructors qualified to teach (QTT) Music private lessons. We are particularly interested in expanding our list of instructors qualified to teach harp, low brass, and class brass.
Work is available beginning in the Fall 2022 semester. Workload is assigned each semester based on enrolment.

The Role
As a private lesson instructor in the Music Department, you will instruct students on their instrument in the Basic Musicianship Certificate, Music Diploma, Music Technology Diploma, and Foundation for Music Therapy Studies programs.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will instruct instrumental students, facilitate learning, evaluate student progress in cohort programs and model musical excellence. As part of an integrated instructional team, the successful candidate will plan, organize, and manage learning activities and maintain quality learner-centred instruction. As a performance faculty member, the successful candidate will have the opportunity to participate in public performances on campus, including the Arts at One concert series.
To Be Successful in this Role You Will Need
– a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) or equivalent experience;
– a strong performance profile and excellent musicianship;
– a demonstrated ability to teach across a variety of musical styles;
– extensive knowledge of repertoire and pedagogy appropriate for the instrument;
– a record of successful teaching and recruitment at the post-secondary level;
– a demonstrated ability to work with a population of diverse adult learners;
– a strong commitment to maintaining and growing enrolment in your studio;
– excellent communication skills, demonstrated initiative and creativity, effective interpersonal skills, self-directedness, and evidence of ongoing professional development.
