Vancouver Coastal Health is looking for a Program Assistant to join the Access & Assessment team at Joseph & Rosalie Segal & Family Health Centre. Apply today to join our team!

As a Program Assistant in Mental Health and Substance Use with VCH, you will:

• Receive verbal/written referrals for new patients/clients, answer telephones and greet clients, coordinate patient appointments and respond to general inquiries.
• Arrange meetings and attend departmental meetings to record notes or take minutes.
• Set up and maintain filing systems, maintain timekeeping records and complete on-line purchase requisitions for equipment and supplies.
• Type/transcribe a variety of healthcare documentation, medical dictation/consultations, correspondence, reports and presentations utilizing intermediate word processing and spreadsheet software.

ABOUT THE ACCESS & ASSESSMENT CENTRE (AAC)

The AAC serves as a single point of access for mental health services for residents of Vancouver ages 17+. Services include urgent assessments, crisis intervention, outreach support and referral to Mental Health and Substance Use services. Open 7 days a week, 7:30 am to 11:00 pm, the AAC provides easily accessible care that eliminates the need for clients to navigate a complicated system or default to Hospital Emergency Departments for their mental health and substance use needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education & Experience

• Grade 12, supplemented with courses in medical transcription and two years of recent related experience or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.

Knowledge & Abilities

• Ability to type 55 wpm.
• Ability to deal with others effectively
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
• Physical ability to carry out the duties of the position.
• Ability to organize work.
• Ability to operate related equipment.

The hours of work including days off and work area may be subject to change consistent with operational requirements and the provision of the Collective Agreement and applicable statutes. Successful applicants may be required to complete a Criminal Records Review Check.

As per the current Public Health Orders (Long Term Care/Seniors Assisted Living Provincial Health Officer Order and the Health Sector Order), as of October 26, 2021, all employees working for Vancouver Coastal Health must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19. Proof of vaccination status will be required.
