Job description: 360°kids has been a leader in the delivery of innovative support services for over 30 years as we work to improve the lives of homeless and at-risk youth and families in York Region. We are a vitally important community agency serving all of York Region.
The Queer Agenda Program serves to provide programming and supports specifically geared towards youth identifying as members of the 2SLGBTQ+ community. The program will also facilitate a connection with training resources regarding 2SLGBTQ+ identities on an organizational level and will contribute to the inclusion of 2SLGBTQ+ identities within the organization.
The planned content will take on a diverse array of formats such as art groups, discussion groups and workshops with the scope of providing educational and non-judgmental information to youth relating to their well-being and how it intersects with their identity. There will also be a planning piece to the work accomplished by the Program Coordinator in the scope of mobilizing knowledge for a concrete outlook of the program and the way data will be collected to adapt the program going further. The Program Coordinator will accomplish all the necessary tasks in an identity affirming manner.
Direct responsibilities include:

Overseeing the overall project under the supervision of 360°kids
Develop work plan timelines to ensure project deliverables are achieved
Coordinate, monitor track and support the implementation of activities with agencies, youth allies, youth, young adults and peers

Managing funds to support project needs
Compile evaluations: pre/post-surveys on peer facilitation training and peer-led sessions and partnership evaluation
Complete project summary report: project details, achievement of targets, evaluation of project
Responsible for program start-up and implementation
Represent 360°kids to the social service network, and to the general public
Recruit and train youth and young adults to be ‘peer facilitators’ to facilitate education using this evidence-based tool to other youth and young adult audiences to have open dialogue about 2SLGBTQ+ identities
Identify gaps/needs to support youth using the tools and develop resources to meet these gaps/needs
Develop interventions to address individual, interpersonal, community and/or societal factors that may reduce the risks, or enhance protective factors against homophobia, transphobia, biphobia and any other identity-based phobia.
Evaluate for changes in behaviours/attitudes towards the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Contribute content to the 360°kids’ website and social media.
Represent 360°kids to the social service network, regulators, and to the general public.
Promote the activities of the Queer Agenda program.
Work with the Program Manager to ensure program success while positively contributing to 360°kids as an organization.
Report any safety concerns to the 360°kids Management team.
Answer calls from colleagues, partner agencies and the general public and provide guidance regarding the Queer Agenda program.
Complete all mandatory recording and reporting including daily documentation and statistical data collection. Provide reports and related information to the Manager as required and in a timely manner.
Participate in regular supervision meetings and performance appraisal meetings on a semi-annual basis.
Attend and present at training workshops and relevant conferences that pertain to the Queer Agenda program.
Working with a team to develop and facilitate workshops and program content geared towards 2SLGBTQ+ youth
Respond to immediate needs, provide supports, and resolve conflicts.
Consistently follow up with team members and document all developments within the program
Complete specific trainings relating to program content and assess knowledge of other members of the organization
Work with youth to affirm their identity and provide any resources that may facilitate the exploration and affirmation of their identity
Make appropriate referrals to internal and external programs and/or supports such as Housing Workers, ATS, Individual and Family Counsellors, Employment, Education, Specialized Support Workers such as Mental Health or Addictions, and others as required.
Provide youth with encouragement and help connect them to resources that will help them address challenges in their lives that relate to their identity
Provide ongoing support, assistance and encouragement to break the cycles of stigma and misinformation towards the 2SLGBTQ+ community
Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS REQUIRED:
A Child and Youth Work (CYW) degree and/or a post-secondary degree in a related field and/or the equivalent of education and work experience. Experience with program management and/or coordination is an asset.
The ideal candidate will possess:

Personal experience with the 2SLGBTQ+ community.
Extensive knowledge of queer identities and intersecting areas, including understanding of harm reduction principles and gender affirming principles.
Demonstrates client focused skills and role modelling.
An ability to be adaptable with a flexible approach, taking into consideration the unique qualities of each client.
Engaging and effective communication skills that go towards engaging youth in healthy and educational discussions.
Exceptional interpersonal skills that promote positive team building, education and conflict resolution.
Proven knowledge of community resources and the ability to strongly advocate for clients and professional referrals.
Current First Aid/CPR certification, current vulnerable sector screening (criminal background check)
Past experience working with 2SLGBTQ+ identifying youth is an asset.
Past experience with facilitating workshops is an asset.
