The Centre for International Experience (CIE), within theDivision of Student Life and the Office of Vice President International, provides students opportunities so they can expand their learning into the global arena. CIE enables students to expand their world to gain a global advantage. We work with students, academic units, local and global community to create sustainable and diverse learning abroad experiences that incorporate study, research and professional opportunities. We work in partnership with faculties and services to enable students new to Canadato maximize their time at U of T to meet their goals and aspirations on graduation. Finally, we work to build curricular, co-curricular, and experiential global learning opportunities on campus.

Your opportunity:

The Program Lead, Global Programs will provide support to international students through programs administered by the Centre for International Experience. Reporting to the Associate Director, International Student Experience & Global Fluency, the Program Lead will oversee the administrative and student support of key Global Programs administered by CIE, including the Minor in Global Leadership, the Global Scholars specialization, and co-curricular programming through the Global Citizen designation. The Program Lead will provide student support and enrichment programming, and administrative support to faculty partners involved in these signature programs.

The Program Lead works closely with the Office of the Vice-President International, tri-campus Advisory Committees and working groups, Student Life partners and faculties to: coordinate faculty, department and campus logistics to deliver global programs, design and deliver enrichment activities related to the global programs, triage and escalate student accessibility and personal circumstances hindering academic performance and personal wellbeing, monitor recruitment, retention and completion of programs, and nurtures an overall positive student experience. The incumbent supports dailycommunication, coordination and delivery of activities related to: marketing, communications and publicity events, program delivery in coordination with faculties, departments, registrars and campus teams, student orientation and well-being, social / intercultural activities, leadership and professional development, recruitment, retention and completion strategies, program improvements and evaluations, and other tailored activities for these global programs.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Advising students on co-curricular, academic, and personal matters by providing options and consequences incorporating personal circumstances impacting academic success and an understanding of an individual’s background.
  • Coordinating meeting schedules, agendas, materials, action plans and follow-up items. Interpreting and applying policies and procedures when making independent decisions.
  • Planning and implementing components of curricular and/or co-curricular programs and activities.
  • Facilitating educational workshops and seminars. Evaluating learning outcomes for program development.
  • Reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into the program. Reviewing and assessing student applications for admission into programs.
  • Planning and overseeing the implementation of an evaluation framework for programs and initiatives. Conducting detailed analysis on program efficiency and student learning outcomes to inform program planning activities.
  • Building and strengthening relationships with stakeholders and partners of strategic importance. Keeping well-informed on the research, literature, theory, trends and best practices for post-secondary success.
  • Acting as the first point of contact for program-related enquiries. Developing content for marketing and/or promotional materials

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in a relevant discipline or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of related experience working with academic and co-curricular cohorts from pre-arrival to graduation in an international higher education setting is required.
  • Of the 4 years’ experience, a minimum of 2 years’ designing and delivering enrichment programming.
  • Of the 4 years’ experience, a minimum of 2 years’ experience working with academic governance, academic programs administration or co-curricular delivery and design is required.
  • Experience working with faculty, staff, and students in a university setting, including high-level officials is required.
  • Demonstrated experience delivering events and workshops is required.
  • Demonstrated experience reviewing and assessing student application for admission into programs is required.
  • Demonstrated experience of good practices in student retention and program completion is required.
  • Proven experience taking meeting notes, writing reports, and collating data requests is required.
  • Excellent communication, teamwork and intercultural skills.
  • Proven experience in working in flexible environments and in dealing with uncertainty.
  • Demonstrated high level of accuracy.
  • Advanced skills with Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Microsoft Forms, ROSI/ACORN (or equivalent student data systems), SharePoint, and data privacy.

Assets (Nonessential):

  • International experience working in a non-Canadian education setting an asset.
  • Knowledge of a second language an asset.

Pay Scale Group & Hiring Zone:

USW Pay Band 13 — $83,150 with an annual step progression to a maximum of $106,336. Pay scale and job class assignment is subject to determination pursuant to the Job Evaluation/Pay Equity Maintenance Protocol.
