Position Overview
Assists the Project Manager in the overall planning, organization and coordination of construction projects to ensure they are completed on time and within the allotted budget.
Responsibilities
- Coordinates and follows-up on RFI’s and site instructions
- Assists Project Team during tendering processes
- Assists Project Team in completing takeoffs and creating project budget
- Liaises with subcontractors to obtain product specifications, warranties and other documents required for project completion
- Collects as-built drawings and closeout documentation required for occupancy and project handover
- Assists site in scheduling 3rd party inspections
- Executive administration duties including scheduling meetings and ensuring meeting minutes are accurate and distributed to all parties
- Improves cost efficiency through drawing review
- Contributes to improvement of company policies and procedures
- Updates drawing log, RFI log and shop drawing submittals
- Approves invoices for technical conformity; track and control construction costs
- Maintain trade contact lists
- Assists site supervisor in creating and maintaining overall project schedule and ensures that project milestones are met
- Coordinates delivery dates of major equipment from subcontractors and internal sourcing
- Mentors and assigns tasks to Co-Op students
- Ensure health and safety policies including inspection items, health and safety talks, supervisor inspections are performed and documented as per PGCM processes and procedures
- Ensure mobilization/project start up list is completed
- Obtains permits required for construction (i.e. road closure permits, noise exemption permits, etc.)
- Ensures that information flow inside Project Team is on the highest level
- Alerts Contract Manager and PM about all possible Variation Orders/Claims /Additional works which may arise on Construction Site
- Keep contact to all relevant local authorities
- Review engineering and architectural drawings to monitor progress
- Other project administration and site coordination duties as required
Qualifications:
- Technical college diploma or university degree
- 3-5 years of experience in construction administration, on site experience is an asset
- Working knowledge of construction project management and administration
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project, Bluebeam, AutoCad/Revit
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
- Should be a team player, able to work independently with minimum supervision using their own initiative
