Zymeworks is proudly headquartered in our brand new, net-zero facility located in the vibrant Main St biotech hub of Vancouver, BC, with operations in Bellevue, WA, Dublin, Ireland, Singapore and the Bay Area.
Work Requirement
This role will be based out of our Vancouver office and is hybrid with a minimum of 3 days per week onsite.
Key Responsibilities
- Facilitates the procurement of materials, supplies, and equipment for the Early Research & Development (eR&D) Department by generating Purchase Requests (PRs) in accordance with established policies and procedures.
- Assists with the processing of change orders.
- Updates internal systems to reflect PR/PO submittals and change order status.
- Confers with staff, Logistics, and Procurement teams to discuss defective or unacceptable goods or services and determines corrective action. Reaches out Vendors to resolve issues when needed.
- Coordinates, follows up, and expedites delivery requirements with suppliers and transportation carriers to ensure delivery requirement needs are met and requestors are kept updated.
- Works with eR&D and Accounts Payable to approve invoices and follow up on discrepancies
- Initiates new Vendors in the SAP system, facilitates resolution of onboarding issues between Vendors, Procurement, and other groups as necessary.
- Takes ownership of purchasing process for eR&D department, creating/updating SOWs, and making process improvements where needed.
- Fosters effective and collaborative working relationships with fellow employees, management, external partners and vendors.
- Assists with Vendor Contract management process for the eR&D department.
- Acts as a liaison between eR&D, Procurement, Vendors, and other departments as necessary.
- Participates in cross-functional team meetings and provide progress updates.
- Maintains communications with various groups within eR&D, keeping on top of relevant issues/concerns, and identify areas for process improvements.
- Assist with administrative duties for eR&D team as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education and Experience
- University degree or diploma in a science or business-related discipline.
- 1 to 2 years of working experience in biotech, pharmacy, or science related fields is an asset.
Skills and Abilities
- Previous experience with SAP and Ariba (or other ERP or purchasing software) is an asset.
- Basic knowledge of purchasing standards, policies, procedures and strategies.
- Familiarity with science-based disciplines.
- Proven interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively as a member of cross-functional team. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Good organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a high paced, fast changing environment. Results-oriented.
- Good oral and written communication skills.
- Good problem solving and analytical thinking skills.
- Proficiency with MS Office and SmartSheet is an asset.

The Canadian base salary range for this full time position is $48,000 – $74,000 + bonus + equity + benefits. Our salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location.
The range displayed on each job posting reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position across all Canadian locations. Within the range, individual pay is determined by a variety of factors and the salary offered may vary depending on the successful candidate’s location and qualifications (including, but not limited to, job-related knowledge, education, training, skills, and experience).
