Recreation Leader – Senior Services

(Part-time)

Are you eager to ensure that the seniors of this community have a variety of recreational programs to enhance their well-being? If so, this opportunity could be for you!

Our Parks, Recreation & Culture Department is seeking an energetic, organized individual to coordinate a variety of programming for seniors at the Mission Seniors Activity Centre Facility. Under the general direction of the Program Coordinator, you will assist with the planning, delivery, coordination, marketing, budgeting and evaluating of senior’s programs. You will also recruit, supervise, coordinate and schedule instructors and volunteers for the programs.

We are looking for a self-directed individual who is able to effectively organize and prioritize their workload and meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced recreation environment.
Along with Grade 12 and a Certificate in Community Recreation, Activity Assistant or a recognized academic equivalent such as Social Work, supplemented by a supervisory course, the preferred candidate will have three years’ of experience in a recreation environment including experience working with seniors, combined with experience in program planning, administration, supervision and training of staff; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.

Excellent customer-service and interpersonal skills are necessary to establish and maintain effective working relationships and excellent communication skills to work with internal and external customers. You must have valid Standard First Aid certification, current CPR certification and a valid BC driver’s license.

The current hourly rate for this part-time CUPE position is $33.09 plus a comprehensive benefit package upon successful completion of the probation period. The current schedule of work is Monday to Friday, 9:00 am to 3:30 pm; the hours and days of work will vary and is subject to change based on operational needs.
