We currently have a Temporary Part-Time (0.5 FTE; Until approx. October 2021) opportunity for a Registered Dietition on the Mobile Health Unit at our Bayview Campus.

Hours of Work:

Weekdays: Days; 8hrs; As per schedule

Weekend: Days; 8hrs; As per schedule

Summary of Duties

We currently have a Temporary Part Time opportunity for a Registered Dietitian (RD) to cross cover Acute Care areas as part of the Resource Team at Sunnybrook.

The Resource Team RD is a new and innovative position at Sunnybrook designed to give the RD a broad range of skills and knowledge to practice in a number of specialties within acute care areas. In response to the COVID 19 pandemic we are specifically seeking a RD who will also work, if required, in our new provincially sponsored Mobile Health Unit (MHU) or temporary field hospital. It is an ideal opportunity for dietitians looking to work in acute care across multiple programs or to explore other career paths. The Resource Team is an exciting and dynamic environment for RD staff, offering support through a variety of continuing education, career laddering and professional development opportunities at Sunnybrook.

The Resource Team RD will be deployed to various units in acute care or the ICUs in response to changing patient and staffing needs. S/he will be a champion in promoting excellent patient care while also demonstrating exceptional leadership, communication, problem-solving and conflict resolution skills. S/he will participate in professional development and reflective practice as well as quality improvement initiatives in the organization. The Resource Team RD will be a part of the inter-professional team providing care that supports the principles of Person-Centered Care and the vision, mission and values of SHSC.

  • Responsible for providing person-centred patient assessments and interventions in collaboration with the inter-professional team, including recommendations for follow-up as required.
  • Actively participates in inter-professional team activities such as team meetings, clinical rounds, team huddles and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in continuing professional development activities including the provision of clinical and educational in-services that fosters ongoing learning, professionalism, inter-professional collaborations, and best practices in dietetics
  • Is an expert resource for staff, students, and other health care providers related to dietetics
  • Practices in accordance with the College of Dietitians of Ontario standards of practice.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Member of the College of Dietitians of Ontario (CDO)
  • Recent, related experience in the inpatient acute care setting, including the provision of nutrition support.
  • Proficiency in nutrition assessment and care – experience assessing, implementing and managing parenteral nutrition, enteral nutrition and therapeutic diets.
  • Experience providing patient/family education.
  • Ability to work independently is essential.
  • Effective communication and collaboration skills.
  • Initiative, teamwork and ability to effectively prioritize work.
  • Application of evidence-based practice.
  • Commitment to ongoing professional development
  • Ability to work effectively in a person centered care environment in various clinical settings as a member of the interprofessional team managing multiple demands and changing priorities, while being flexibility and adaptable.
