Job description: Unit Summary
Ward 8 South is an active adult general internal medicine unit with a 4-bed Step-Down Unit. An interdisciplinary team provides care to an acutely ill, primarily geriatric, patient population, including patients with multi-system chronic illnesses.
Position Summary
As a member of the healthcare team, the Registered Nurse coordinates and evaluates patient care and provides nursing care according to the job description and Standards of Practice for Registered Nurses on 8 South.
Schedule Work Hours
days, evenings, nights, weekends, holidays
Qualifications
1. Current Certificate of Registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario as a Registered Nurse or eligible for temporary registration
2. Successful completion of Step-Down Unit Course
3. Current BCLS certification
4. Experience and ability in ECG monitoring
5. Previous related experience in acute medicine and/or geriatrics
6. Knowledge of the current nursing assessment and management of adult and geriatric medicine patients, including rehabilitative approaches to patient care
7. Knowledge of the nursing care plan and evidence of ability to utilize problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques effectively in an acute medical setting
8. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication and teamwork skills
