Responsibilities

Reporting to the Health Services Manager, the Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide holistic care to individuals, families, groups, communities and populations across the life span. He/she is responsible for the overall coordination and direction of nursing care.

The RN provides clinical leadership particularly in complex or unpredictable patient/client care settings. This individual has the knowledge, skill and judgment needed to provide competent, evidenced based nursing practice.

The RN is accountable for the development, implementation and ongoing evaluation of the plan of care to achieve patient/client outcomes. Additionally, this person is responsible and accountable for his/her nursing practice and conduct as defined by the Nova Scotia College of Nurses and for ensuring that his/her registration is current and valid.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing
  • Registered or eligible for registration as a RN with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses (NSCN)
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification
  • General Medicine experience preferred
  • Recent experience with central lines of various types (i.e. PICC lines), chest tube care, strict isolation procedures, TPN, transfusion of blood and blood products, pre and post care for a vast array of diagnostic tests and procedures
  • Demonstrated effective communication, interpersonal, clinical and technical skills
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours of Work

  • Full Time, Short Assignment; 75 hours bi-weekly

Salary Information

$35.0366 – $41.4138 hourly
$42.8633 hourly with 25 years’ RN nursing experience
