Responsibilities

The Registered Nurse (RN) utilizes the nursing process, critical thinking and problem solving skills to provide care to our acute Geriatric Psychiatry patients and families on the GPAIU. The RN works directly with patients, supervises support-staff and coordinates patient care in collaboration with inter-professional clinical team. The RN is responsible for attending unit specific education sessions and will receive on the job feedback to develop skills in positive behavior support and to implement intervention plans.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing
  • Current registration with the Nova Scotia College of Nurses
  • A Baccalaureate Degree in Nursing is preferred
  • BLS-C (HCP) certification
  • Critical thinker with an ability to work with clients to resolve or stabilize crisis and other difficulties
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
  • A capacity for coping with challenging clinical situations
  • Flexibility, adaptability, good critical judgment
  • Ability to effectively contribute as a member of the team
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

($42.8633 with 25 years’ of RN experience)
