Job description: Your Opportunity:

Unit 33 is an acute medical and neurology unit where a candidate with experience on a medical or neurology unit is required. As a Registered Nurse (RN), you will provide a wide variety of nursing services to patients, families, communities and populations, while taking necessary steps to ensure their safety and well-being. In your role, you will utilize nursing processes, through critical thinking, problem solving and decision making, as well as teach, counsel and advocate on behalf of patients and their families. You will play a leadership role in supporting an integrated and holistic approach to patient care, health promotion and maintenance. You will provide safe, quality patient and family centered care while reflecting the shared vision and values of AHS.

Required Qualifications:

Completion of an accredited nursing education program. Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College and Association of Registered Nurses of Alberta (CARNA). Current Basic Cardiac Life Support – Health Care Provider (BCLS-HCP). Additional Required Qualifications:

Self-directed individual with a positive attitude and demonstrated excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills, evidenced by performance appraisals and reference checks. Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to provide quality care to patients and to report observations. Prior experience that shows the ability to function effectively within collaborative team nursing models of care. Demonstrated commitment for continuing education through professional development activities. Educational opportunities will be provided to the successful candidate. Competence in relevant technical nursing skills and a willingness to learn new skills. Basic computer skills. Ability to do shift work and meet the physical and mental demands of the job in a high-paced atmosphere. Nurses with interest and experience in caring for patients and families experiencing stroke and neurological conditions is optimal. Recent experience on an acute medical or neurology unit is preferred. A candidate who can work effectively within a multidisciplinary team and has experience in collaborative team nursing directed towards providing family focused nursing care is required. The environment is suitable for candidates who have recent nursing experience, certification in a relevant specialty area, and leadership training and experience. Must be willing to obtain stroke training and certifications in the NIH stroke asses. Preferred Qualifications:

Knowledge in meeting the needs of medical patient populations, with interest and experience in caring for stroke and neurology patients is preferred. Experience in acute care is optimal.
