Reporting to the Manager, Transportation Services, the Senior Vehicle Mechanic is responsible for the maintenance, inspection and repair of all types of light- and heavy-duty gasoline and diesel-powered automobiles and trucks, as well as gasoline-powered landscape equipment, including chainsaws, lawn mowers, and tractors. Other responsibilities include keeping accurate and legible records, being available for rotating emergency call-ins, and performing other tasks related to Transportation Services as assigned.
Requirements of the position include: Grade 12 plus an additional one-year program or equivalent to acquire an Automobile Technician license, and a valid Automotive/Truck (310S) is required, together with a minimum of three years’ related experience. A Coach License (310T) would be an asset. Also required is a valid driver’s license with a good driving record; basic computer skills; and excellent interpersonal and communications skills. Experience maintaining, servicing and repairing farm, construction, hydraulic, and turf maintenance equipment would be an asset. The successful candidate must be a self-starter and able to work with minimal supervision, while functioning effectively as part of a team. The successful candidate will be required to provide a current and acceptable driver’s abstract as a condition of employment.
